MA Fashion Photography
Giovanni Martins was born in Rotterdam (the Netherlands), lived and worked in Amsterdam, and later on moved to London to pursue his fashion photography career on a higher level.
With previous experience as an art director for various companies and (fashion) events, including L'Oreal & Supperclub he's trying to bring this experience into his image making, not being restricted by any rules or type of medium.
Published work includes: Vogue.it, Idol mag, Real mag, Amfi mag, Fashionphobic, Jessica Joyce, Blowonline, Supperclub and Nederland 2.
His final project is called Manifesto,
This mesmerizing post-modernist fashion dream sequence has been created using bullet time animation techniques (best known for its use in the 'Matrix' film series) and was realized by using an array of 50 photo cameras to freeze capture models and fashion in time and space.
Inspired by Andre Bretons 'Le Manifeste du surrealism', written in 1924, it's 5 moving sequences of fashion photography reference and draw inspiration from techniques employed in classic surrealist films such as Cocteau's 'Blood of a poet' and Luis Bunuel's 'Un chien de Andalou'.
Styling includes couture pieces from designers such as Iris van Herpen, Jan Taminiau and Bibi van der Velden and visualize an interesting combination of surrealist sculpturism with post modern, avant garde couture.
