Helen Saunders completed her BA at Loughborough University and is currently studying for her MA at Central Saint Martins. She works primarily in photography and digital media. Helen uses the digital collaging of photographs to create an imaginative space for the viewer. Framing her choice of photographic location is the desensitised relationship we have with the physical world, both through the homogonising of the landscape through modern infrastructure and our increasingly digital, screen- based interaction with it. She chooses to photograph places, which contain the histories of their architectural elements and debris from previous inhabitants. These provide the threads onto which the viewer can project their own narrative. In reconfiguring these places, she explores the language of composition, and is interested in the possibilities for creating a spatial experience for the viewer through the 2âdimensional plane of the image. In particular she hopes to generate a tension between what is visibly apparent and a sense of that which sits outside the image. www.helensaunders.co.uk
