Untitled I (diptych)

BA (Hons) Fine Art: Painting

‘Veil of Perception’ ‘Like the orchestral background music that’s played in movies which we hear but not listen to, my mind’s eye projects what I see but not look into.’ “My practice focuses on elaborate exploration of my perceptions: simultaneous yet contradictory; simple yet elaborate. Based on my own experiences, I believe that the mind’s eye has strong ties to the subconscious compared to the imagination, situated in that grey area where things are seen but not looked, heard but not listened, felt but not touched. Why I say this is because what I momentarily ‘see’ can be as unrealistic, maybe more, than the imagination, but also has the capability to be perceived as more real than reality at the same time, and though in most cases, it does not demand for my attention, it’s a marginally uncontrollable entity which fades in and out at any given time; and what I’m simply doing here is an attempt to unveil, those ever-so-elusive visions.” For more information, visit: www.alexandrahon.com
