BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Surface Textiles
I am a fashion and textile designer specialized in print. I love drawing, have been studying fine art for more than 10 years, which makes me a illustrator and I love to combine fine art into fashion. I am an enthusiastic, diligent person, enjoying teamwork and taking challenge, I love meeting new people. My personal aesthetics has been strongly influenced by different cultures. my âMiao minorityâ project researches into the Miao people in China and investigates their culture in relation to the modern globalized world. My collections were achieved through fashion and textile design. The first collection was exploring the possibility of combining traditional crafts with modern techniques. And then I tried to express my understanding of the Miao people through my illustration of the nature creatures and taking that as a starting point form the second collection. I have experience working in different designer studios such as Eley Kishimoto, Giles and Mirjam Roden. And I have been constantly doing freelance work with designer Joe Jeffrey Duke, working closely helping him develop print collections for fashion designers such as Philip Lim, Marchesa, Prabal Gurung and Alexander Wang. Apart from working in fashion studios, I have experienced worked in far-east manufacturers as well as working in the department store, understanding the customers. My mother tongue is Chinese (both Mandarin and Cantonese), I am fluent in English, and have basic communication skill in French.
