MA Fashion Design Technology (Womenswear)
Alex wang is a womenswear designer recently completed her MA course in London college of fashion .Born in China, after graduating from Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology ,alex worked for several leading fashion brands in China such as EXCEPTION ,OTT,VOL.3 .gradually built her own design aesthetics which fuses minimalism and occultism in innovative way ,challenge herself to design clothing based on provocative concept but also wearable and flattering to the female's body. This collection is entitled "FOSSIL'', inspired by the installation artist Antony Gormley, it aim to question our usual point of view to see our body which is constrained by a symbolic space , through testing and reviewing our body and our second skin : garment, reconstruct the spatial constrain imposed on our body , seek for the multiple, opposing elements to reinvent our body-garment relationship .Play with the psychology cubism game and force us to constantly redefine and renegotiate our point of view. Goethe once said :"Only in limitation does the master distinguish himself, and only the law can give us freedom."------sounds contradictory , but it is quite true . If one wants to achieve the wonderland of free expression, firstly he/she has to build his/her own law . Alex feel excited to explore further and find designing code of her own .
