BA (Hons) Fashion Design Realisation (Part time)
MY MA FASHION ARTEFACT WORK EXPOSES PRODUCTION AND REMOVES THE AESTHETIC ILLUSION ASSOCIATED WITH PRODUCTS TO REVEAL THE FORMS OF CONSTRUCTION. IT INCORPORATES THE VISIBILITY OF THE MAKING PROCESS, RECONSTITUTING VISIONS AND CHALLENGING FASHION INTELLIGENCE AND TRADITIONS BY EXPOSING STRUCTURE. IN ALTERING THE ROLE OF FASHION TO UNHIDE ITS MYSTERIOUS CONSTRUCTION TO CREATE A SUITABLE GARMENT, THE INWARD BECOMES THE OUTWARD. THE WORK USES THE OLD AS IT WAS AND REMODELS THE FUNCTION. THE DESIGN AND ANTI-DESIGN ARE EQUALLY ESSENTIAL. IN REWORKING VINTAGE GARMENTS THERE IS A THOROUGH CONSIDERATION FOR PATTERN PIECES, A REFLECTION ON FASHION HISTORY AND TECHNICAL SKILL. THE SUCCESS OF REAL FASHION, REAL QUALITY AND REAL LONGEVITY LIES IN BOTH FORWARDâ¦AND RETROSPECTIVE THINKING. IT IS IMPORTANT TO AMALGAMATE BOTH LITERAL AND THEORETICAL DE/CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES. THERE WILL CONTINUE TO BE A RETHINKING AND AN UNUSUAL ATTACKING OF OPPOSING TERMS IN THIS WORK â NAMELY INSIDE OUTSIDE. THE KEY IS TO FIND THE BALANCE OF HOW FAR SOMETHING CAN BE DECONSTRUCTED, THEN RECONSTRUCTED, TO REVEAL THE LUXURY OF THE IN/EXTERIOR ALL THE WHILE RETAINING ITS COMMERCIAL VIABILITY AS A FASHION ARTEFACT. MY BA GRADUATE COLLECTION WAS INSPIRED PREDOMINANTLY BY THE TRAVELLING MASSAI TRIBESMEN AND WARRIORS.
