MA Fashion Design Technology (Womenswear)
name: Chika Ito e-mail: chikai0921@gmail.com About collection Mingei -æ°è- collection Chika, Japanese fashion designer based in London has taken her signature clean and feminine style and developed it future with the use of hand stitching techniques and hand crafts, inspired from folk art such as Amish and Japanese quilting, Sashiko, for the new 2012 collection. Hand stitching, for instance, is one of the simplest techniques for making garment. The restoring of this fundamental technique in the luxury fashion market may have a realistic potential for future fashion design and manufacture. It could be a suggestion for new luxury fashion design in order to reinstall the hand stitching technique, which is simple and a quality of beauty, such as seen on hand quilting and embroidery in folk craft. Personal identities I believe that womenswear is always only clean and feminine in style but also modern and contemporary. I am passionate about making clothes in both 2D and 3D design. I like to find interesting design shapes or ideas from archives and modernize them as new details for clothes. Also, my design priority is that clothes should be highly wearable and what women want to buy. My work experiences in different market level of the industry taught me the customers âwantsâ are very important in fashion. I am keen to learn and enjoy working hard and have efficient organization and time management.
