MA Fine Art
This year I am completing the MRes Arts Practice course at CCW Graduate School. My final show demonstrates how my practice interweaves with my research, as described below: How can studio strategies be made evident, with reference to precarity in contemporary UK art practice? My painting practice allows decision-making to remain visually evident. Construction work visible behind the surface exaggerates the physical processes of painterly composition. Expansive and cautious marks suggest rhythms of working, which are in turn subject to practical constraints. The back-of-envelope sketches suggest a parallel in the mental processes of my practice; they are reminders enabling me to carry my thoughts into the next studio-day, despite âintervening barriers to practiceâ: precarity.
