MA Textile Design
Despite my home country, Uruguay, is the second worldwide `wool top` producer, is hard to find a variety of wool products locally made. Motivated by the natural properties of wool , the idea behind my work was exploring marketable and timeless design aesthetics to teach local crafts people a safe approach to design. At the same time, valuing hand-knitting skills as a contemporary practice and addressing its potential as a viable economic pathway. I have developed a co-design tool as an endless source of patterns and color combinations, a cube puzzle. A tool which allow people to create their own designs in a spontaneous way. The puzzle images could be translated into different textiles surfaces using different techniques. For this exhibition, I have developed a toolbox of crochet techniques that allow beginners and experienced crochet-knitters to develop their skills. The finished product is a playful and versatile set of soft cubes which can be used by different ages and within different interior spaces. The intention behind my work is creating contemporary possibilities from local resources. flor.bianchi@gmail.com florenciabianchi.com
