Her passion for design stems from her long term love of art and craft. Although a specialist in knitwear she is a womenâs wear designer with an interest in textiles as a whole. Her style of designing however versatile is a mix of high street and luxury fashion. She is equally skilled in designing, drawing, patterned cutting, knitting, event planning and writing. Her Graduate collection âSri Lanka: A History of Costumeâ was inspired by the way the Island dressed before and after colonisation together with costumes from a Buddhist parade called âThe Peraharaâ, exploring the idea of bringing western influence to modern day clothing. A self reliant and fast learner Thisakya is keen to broaden her knowledge of the fashion industry before she starts her own fashion brand. She is working as a freelance designer and event planner while starting up her own brand and tailoring boutique. Her CV includes many PR related work and intern-ships at two of the biggest garment factories in Sri Lanka boasting clients such as VS, M&S, Leviâs, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren.
